STS Enterprise is a mentoring and public speaking organization That originated in Memphis Tennessee by Jeremey Calhoun and Alton Cryer. Cryer is a native to the South with a deep passion for the city. Cryer grew up in many parts of Memphis and is a graduate of Ridgeway high school. Jeremy Calhoun is from Jacksonville florida that graduated from Houston High School and played on the football team. Cryer attended Jackson State for two years, but came home to assist his sister with her diagnosis of leukemia. He eventually settled to The University of Memphis where the two men currently attend. STS enterprise seem to set forth a strong desire to shape the young urban youth who reside in a city that has one of the top crime rates nationwide. The two came together with vision that will soon inspire the entire Memphis Area.

After speaking with the young entreprenuers, they explained that their vision to mentor the youth in the urban neighborhoods came to them when  they spoke many teenage boys and realized that many are focusing their goals on manifesting the "lavish" lifestyle that they often see on tv. The men says that the young black boys expressed to them that in order to live well  "they must choose to become involved in either drugs, sports or music more just to be successful." Jeremy Calhoun states that "showing them outlets that can take them far in their young lives will show the children that they are Setting The Standard (S.T.S). Calhoun actually has a job as a coach for the Shelby County high school. These urban business owners say that they are "vibing" with the young men and at their first mentor meeting, they were truly honored with the amount of respect that the adolescents showed the entrepreneurs.

This past weekend STSEnterprise visited a senior community home called the Wesley highland meadows on highland for one of the many volunteer projects they have and it was said that it was truly a hit. below are pictures from the event. Along with other partners, including (Sean Calhoun and Angelica Coleman ) the entire team  says that they "really help the kids they don't sugarcoat the truth". One could say that their way of communicating with the high school and middle school children is a creative way to interact with the students and teach them real world situations. The team is currently mentoring Cummings Middle School, with hopes of one day expanding to many Memphis and County schools.

Want to be a volunteer? email and become involved as a mentor to young black men( also for young girls ladies! also in the works is a stronger front for young women directed by Angelica Coleman ). please visit the facebook page of STSEnterprise  https://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/STSEnterprise?fref=ts

The KKK has approved permit by The City of Memphis

The City of Memphis has issued a
permit for the KKK to host a
 demonstration March 30.
The protest was prompted by the city
 council removing three Confederate
 related names from Memphis parks.

 WREG MEMPHIS states that "The
permit was approved by Memphis
Police Director Toney Armstrong".
It is said that  KKK Protesters will not
be allowed to cover their faces or carry
any weapons and the protest will take
place 1:30-4 p.m. at 140 Adams
Street.Director Armstrong says so far
his talks with the KKK have been,
“very respectful.”

WREG MEMPHIS also reports that
director Armstrong remarked, “I’ve
been in discussion with the City
Attorney and other members of the
Administration, and I have been
reminded of the legal issues that apply.
But in the end, my primary focus is the
safety of the public and all involved.”
Armstrong explained, “It will be in all
of our best interest to have a
demonstration where we are able to
work with this group in setting the
do’s and dont’s.  Right now, my team
has a strategy that will ensure
everyone’s safety.   What we
absolutely do not want is some
 unplanned, spontaneous
demonstration where my team has not
been involved in planning and set-up.”
The last protest from the group was
awhile ago. There was damage after a
KKK protest held in downtown
Memphis in 1998 though the damage
was done by anti-KKK protesters.

so what do you think about the KKK
coming to Memphis? Will you stay at
home or go to intimidate the
                           protesters?

Is it truly Black History Month? One can DUH, "of course it is"but watching ROOTS or making ridiculous photo captions is not the highlight of the celebration for many. There has been a lot of Black History Quotes going around on the Internet that though may say are funny, are very inaccurate and event derogatory in
a sense.

No one At the Phoinix is here to judge anyone who thinks these pictures and their descriptions are hilarious. But many achievements made should NOT be forgotten.

THE PHOINIX DARES ANYBODY TO HIGHLIGHT ONE AFRICAN AMERICAN YOU MOST ADMIRE. Let us highlight our past in hopes of making a brighter future. People the time is now. So,hashtag #realblackhistory to show your support whether you are of the black race. Those who died in the name of freedom will thank you later.
